The force is strong at Mills Pond!
Mills Pond Elementary School library media specialist Meghan Dyckova brought the galaxy to life on May 4, known to many as Star Wars Day, with engaging, hands-on activities for students of all ages.
Dressed as R2D2, she led third and fourth graders in a creative STEM challenge, where students designed new rebel bases for Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia using Magna-Tiles and LEGOs. First graders teamed up with high school helpers to create Yoda puppets, while kindergarten classes enjoyed a Star Wars-themed read-aloud, crafted their own mini “lightsabers” using straws and lights and participated in a lightsaber/jedi workout.
It was a fun and imaginative day of learning across the galaxy. Head to our facebook page for more pictures and video!
